The Department of Accounting does not waive course prerequisite requirements as listed in the academic catalog. However, if a student meets one or more of the following criteria, a temporary prerequisite override request can be submitted to the department for review:
- Student is currently enrolled in a prerequisite for an accounting course at another institution/school
- Student previously completed a prerequisite for an accounting course at another school but is waiting for transcript to be evaluated by Texas State admissions
- Student previously completed a prerequisite for an accounting course in first undergraduate degree or received an approved course substitution request for an accounting course
The Department of Accounting does not accept transfer credit for ACC 3305 Financial Accounting and Reporting, ACC 3313 Intermediate Accounting I, or ACC 3314 Intermediate Accounting II. Prerequisite requests for courses that require these classes will automatically be denied.
Proof of enrollment can be a screenshot of an unofficial transcript or course schedule that includes the institution name, your name, the course name and number, and the start and end dates of the course. The department will accept a combination of documents that show this information.
